Atnique Appraisals with Steve Wesely, of Cresent Auctioneering, were held on Tuesday, November 8th at 1:00 p[.m. at the Fires of 1018 Museum and History Center. Fifteen individuals participated in this event.
The first "Star of the Show" was a 1934 Steel-craft Pedal Car. It was complete, but had been poorly repainted. If restored could go for $3,000. In present condition $500-1,000.
The second "Star of the Show" was a large German made wall clock with a walnut case. Its dimensions were approximately 12 X 30 inches. It was made in 1910, and purchased in 1971 in Germany by the presenter. Very decorative. Estimated value $250-350.
The third "Star of the Show" was a ruby and crystal water pitcher, approximately 2 quart size. This item is circa 1900. The ruby portion of actual red glass, not an applied clear red paint. This item was in mint condition. Estimated value $75-100
A Czech porcelain/china luncheon/dessert set was presented. It had six plates, cups and saucers. Had a hand painted flowered pattern, and was circa 1925. Estimated value $60-70.
A 12 inch, American made composition doll with sleep eyes was shown. Estimated age of the doll was circa 1940. It was dressed in a baptismal gown that had been made by the presenter. Estimated value $40-50.
A Japanese porcelain tea set, circa 1920, was shown. The set was not complete, as it was missing the lid to the sugar bowl. Estimated value $35-40.
A red plastic, wind up elephant, circa 1950 was presented. It was still in working condition, with no major sign of wear. Estimated value $40-50.
A food chopper, patent date 1893, was shown. It was still in usable condition. Estimated value $22-28.
A silver plated, ceramic lined, tea pot was presented. It was quite a large vessel. The ceramic lining would help keep the beverages hot. Estimated value $25-30.
A "soft shouldered" blue Mason jar, with a patent date of 1858 was presented. It had a zinc lid. Estimated value $12-14.
A poodle figurine with Christmas decorations was shown. It was pink in color and had a holly wreath around its neck. Estimated value $8-12.
A cut glass cream pitcher was shown. No obvious chips or damage. Estimated value $6-8.
A silver plated tray with a sugar and creamer was presented. this item was probably not sold as a set. Estimated value $ 8-10.
The Society had Steve check out a banjo with a floral design painted on its body. This is not a "brand name" instrument. Estimated value $50-70.
A silk dress, circa 1930, which was a recent donation to the society was evaluated. Estimated value $40-50. It was a very "dressy" item of clothing. We are looking for a very "thin" dress form on which to display this item. All of ours are too busty.
This is the last evaluation in this series. We wish to thank Steve Wesely for his expert services. Appraisals will resume the first Tuesday in February, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fires of 1918 Museum and History Center. One hundred and fifty individuals participated in the appraisals over the past year.
